About Teachers

The following information is provided for teachers participating in the SAB program. However, this information can also be used, free or charge, by any teacher or instructor that may find it useful:

Instructional Material During the summer residency program, students participate in field school and laboratory analysis exercises in the earth sciences. The instructional team has developed exercises on water sampling, water analysis, DNA analysis, tree ring sampling, bat behaviour, cave formation and habitat and geological formations. The materal that is used during these exercises is made available through this web site. Handouts used during the summer field trips can be accessed at the Instructional Material page as pdf documents.

Teaching Resources The SAB program concentrates its curriculum on earth science disciplines. Web sites that provide information on a variety of earth science disciplines are linked here. Topics represented here include geology, caves, earthquakes, water and forestry. Also included are links to digital library resources where more information can be accessed. Wherever possible we have linked to resources that are in both English and Spanish.

2003 Program June 8-14 2003 was the first SAB residency program for 12 Hispanic High School students from Tucson, Yuma and Northern Sonora, Mexico. This page has information on the schedule for the week, links to the webpages and weblogs created by the students and links to the team webpages created by each of the three teams.

2004 Program The 2004 Summer residency program takes place June 6-12 2004 in Tucson, Arizona. Information on the schedule for the June program are provided on this page, along with information for the participants on what to expect while participating. Names of the students, teachers and instructional team members are provided as they become available.
